Biography of Tekno Miles, Nigerian Musician


Augustine Miles Kelechi (born 17 December 1992) popularly known by his stage name Tekno, is a Nigerian musician, producer, performer and dancer.


He was born in Bauchi state into a family of six – five boys and one girl. He was raised in various parts of the country including Nassarawa, Kaduna and Abuja due to his father being a member of the Nigerian Army. At the age of 8, Tekno enrolled in a music school where he learned and mastered the rudiments of playing the piano and guitar.


Tekno was first signed by K-Money Entertainment. Their first single, titled "Holiday", was released under the imprint. With outstanding vocals from Davido, “Holiday” was positively accepted and won a great show.


In 2012, Tekno was spotted by renowned Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu at an event in Abuja, after Tekno received a standing ovation after performing a song titled “Onye Ne Kwu”, his remix of “Oleku” by Ice Prince.


It was at the same event that he met Iyanya and Ubi Franklyn, manager of Made Men Music Group and they became friends. Ubi and Iyanya finally encouraged Tekno to move to Lagos to continue his music career.


On October 5, 2013, he signed a recording contract with Made Men Music Group, under which he released singles “Dance” and “Anything”. These singles earned him a nomination in the “Best New Actor of the Year” category at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2015, Tekno released his hit “Duro”. It was positively received in Africa and the USA.


In June 2018, Tekno signed a distribution deal with Universal Music Group Nigeria (UMGN), a division of Universal Music Group responsible for West Africa, as well as UK-based Island Records.
